Starter Kit · Woodbase Bio-Paste — Ready to mix with water
A bio-based paste for LDM 3D printing, developed and tested in the Quasizero lab on the QZMini extruder. Just add water, mix, load the syringe and print. No heating, no plastics, no solvents.
Composition
– Wood sawdust, finely milled and sieved
– Cellulose gum: plant-based binder that gives strength to the dried piece
– Xanthan gum: natural thickener that helps each layer hold its shape
100% plant-based ingredients · Plastic-free · Water-based
Format
– 500 g bag: fills up to 10 × 150 ml syringes
How to prepare (1 syringe)
1. Pour 120 ml of tap water into a bowl.
2. Add 47 g of powder little by little while stirring.
3. Knead for 3–5 minutes until you get a smooth, homogeneous paste.
4. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes so the binders fully hydrate.
5. Fill the syringe in small portions, tapping it to remove air bubbles.
Suggested print settings (QZMini)
– Nozzle: 4 mm
– Line width: 4–4.5 mm · Layer height: 1.5–2.5 mm
– Print speed: ~10 mm/s
Drying
The material shrinks around 5% while drying; consider this when designing. Avoid direct sun, strong air flow or high heat, which can cause cracks.
– Dehydrator: 24–48 h at 40 °C, without direct air flow on the piece
– Room temperature: 5-6 days with gentle air flow
Drying time depends on the size and wall thickness of the piece.
Storage
– Powder: keep the bag closed in a cool, dry place. Use within 12 months.
– Mixed paste: keep covered in the fridge and use within 72 hours.
Not suitable for food contact. Dried pieces are not waterproof unless coated.
